The Malago has now been open for exactly one month! And what a first month it has been! We have loved welcoming all of our customers to The Malago over the past month. It has been great to be able to share with you what we have been working on and for you to experience what The Malago is all about.
Since opening we have continued to make improvements to the kitchen, restaurant, bar and outside area. Highlights include:
- Beautiful plants, flowers and trellis now adorn our terrace area (Thank you Mr and Mrs Carnegie)
- A brand new Robocop in the kitchen
- A fresh lick of paint in the toilets
- Hooks attached to windows in bar area, so these can be opened to allow the outside in
- A fan in the kitchen to keep our KPs nice and cool!
- A one of a kind, handmade chopping board behind the bar, complete with Malago bird and alcohol pun, skilfully made especially for The Malago by owner John
And, most importantly, led by Helly, our talented chefs have been working hard to keep our menu the best it can possibly be. Our chefs work diligently to create dynamic and varied dishes, that showcase their exceptional skill and the best local produce on offer. Highlights from our menus over the last few weeks include:
Pork tenderloin, quail scotch egg, potato and leek terrine, charred tenderstem and spring onion
Fillet of seabass, new potatoes, spinach, peas and broad beans, cherry tomatoes and saffron broth
Artichoke and olive ravioli, courgette veloute, parmesan
Today we welcome the lovely Holly to The Malago. Holly joins as our new Assistant Manager. We are really excited to have her as part of the team and look forward her sharing her experience and expertise with us all.

It has been a busy, but hugely enjoyable first month. And the business continues as we enter July with the first of our midweek events (more details to come) and Upfest on the 29th-31st July. We hope to be seeing many of you there!
